What We Take On

The Work

What a groundworks package actually covers, stage by stage, from a bare site to the ground a finished building stands on.

Selected projects

Residential New Build

Foundations & Substructure

A house taken from a cleared plot to a floor you can build off. Setting out, trenches dug and proved, trench fill concrete, blockwork up to the damp proof course, then the ground floor structure over it.

Type
Residential new build
Foundations
Trench fill
Floor
Beam and block
  • Setting out from the drawings and marked on the ground
  • Trenches excavated to the depth the ground called for
  • Trench fill concrete poured and levelled
  • Blockwork and brickwork raised to damp proof course
  • Steel columns set in, ready for the frame
  • Beam and block floor laid over the substructure

Swimming Pool

Reinforced Concrete Pool Structure

The shell a swimming pool is built in: a watertight reinforced concrete box, poured on site. Bulk dig, a base slab with starter bars left standing, steel fixed to the engineer’s drawings, shutters braced against the pressure, then the walls poured in one go.

Type
Swimming pool structure
Build
Reinforced concrete, poured on site
Finish
Insulated externally
  • Bulk excavation and muck away, sides battered back and fenced
  • Reinforced base slab cast with starter bars left standing
  • Steel fixed to the engineer’s drawings, spacers to hold the cover
  • Shutters built, tied and propped against the pressure of wet concrete
  • Walls poured by pump and vibrated in
  • Pipework penetrations cast in, and insulation fixed outside the shell before backfilling
  • Deep Excavation
  • Reinforcement
  • Formwork

Residential New Build

Resin Driveway & External Works

A driveway to a newly built house, taken from edging and levels through to the finished surface. Resin-bound gravel is only as good as what it sits on, so most of the work here is underneath it.

Type
Residential new build
Surface
Resin-bound over asphalt base
Location
Gerrards Cross
  • Kerb lines, block edging and channel drainage set to finished levels
  • Asphalt base course laid and rolled across the drive
  • Resin and aggregate mixed on site, batch by batch
  • Resin-bound surfacing laid and trowelled by hand
  • Edges cut in to the paths, thresholds and garage apron
  • Kerbs & Edging
  • Drainage
  • Resin Surfacing
  • External Works
